Recap: UC Irvine vs. UC Riverside

Irvine, CA (Sports Network) - Michael Wilder put in 17 points as the UC Irvine Anteaters outlasted the UC Riverside Highlanders, 52-48, in a Big West Conference battle at the Bren Center.

Alex Young added 10 points for UC Irvine (13-13, 7-6 Big West) which ended a two-game slide.

Chris Harriel had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds but was the only player in double figures for UC Riverside (5-19, 2-10) which has lost six straight and nine of its last 10.

Though they shot just 32.1 percent from the field in the first half, the Anteaters led 26-14 at the break by holding the Highlanders to just six field goals on 23.1 percent shooting.

UC Riverside rallied in the second half by nailing five shots from beyond the arc and holding UC Irvine to just 29.6 percent shooting but it wasn't enough as the Anteaters hit 8-of-12 from the free-throw line to seal the win.

The Highlanders lost despite a 47-37 edge in rebounds and an 11-4 advantage in second chance points.
