Recap: Bradley vs. Drake

Peoria, IL (Sports Network) - Walt Lemon Jr. scored 23 points to lead the Bradley Braves to a 67-57 victory over the Drake Bulldogs in each team's Missouri Valley Conference opener at Carver Arena.

Dyricus Simms-Edward tallied 20 points and Tyshon Pickett had 10 points and eight rebounds for Bradley (9-4, 1-0 MVC) which had lost back-to-back games coming into this contest.

Drake (6-6, 0-1) was paced by Ben Simons who scored 13 points and brought down 10 rebounds. Chris Hines added 11 points and Seth VanDeest chipped in 10 points. The Bulldogs had won three of their previous four.

Bradley led 29-27 at the half after shooting just 40.7 percent from the floor by limiting the Bulldogs to 34.5 percent shooting.

The Braves improved slightly to 42.9 percent shooting in the second half and hit on 5-of-9 shots from beyond the arc. Drake managed to hit on just 33.3 percent of its second half field goal attempts.

Drake lost despite a 46-34 edge in rebounds. Bradley scored 23 points off of 18 Drake turnovers.
