Recap: New Mexico St vs. Denver

Las Cruces, NM (Sports Network) - Tyrone Watson scored a game-high 12 points for the New Mexico State Aggies as they posted a 53-42 win over the Denver Pioneers in Western Athletic Conference action at the Pan American Center.

Also scoring in double figures for the Aggies (13-8, 7-2 WAC) were Daniel Mullings and Bandja Sy with 11 and 10 points, respectively, the duo both clearing eight rebounds for NMSU as the team won for the seventh time in as many games.

The Pioneers (11-8, 7-2) didn't have a single player score in double figures although Royce O'Neale, Chris Udofia and Jalen Love all came close with nine points apiece as the team had a seven-game win streak snapped. O'Neale was tops on the glass with 10 rebounds.

Denver led by a basket early in the first half, but the visitors ended up missing all eight chances from behind the 3-point line in the period as it fell behind by seven at the break, 29-22.

In the second half it was NMSU that came up empty on the outside (0-of-4), but at the same time the Aggies held the visitors to a total of just eight made field goals in the final 20 minutes of action.

The Pioneers finished the night shooting only 3-of-18 from beyond the arc, turned the ball over 15 times and was dominated on the glass, 41-24.
