Recap: Denver vs. Louisiana Tech

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Led by Chris Udofia with 18 points, the Denver Pioneers handed a 78-54 loss to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, in Western Athletic Conference action at Magness Arena.

Five Pioneers (21-8, 16-2 WAC) scored in double-figures, as Udofia was joined by Brett Olson with 12 points, Jalen Love with 11 points and Royce O'Neale and Chase Hallam, each with 10 points, as Denver clinched a share of the regular season conference crown with the win.

Denver was hot to start the contest, connecting on 68 percent of its field goal tries in the first half, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range, as it took a commanding lead at the break, 46-25. Louisiana Tech shot just 31 percent from the field and made only one of its five 3-point tries.

In the second half, the Pioneers cooled down from the field, shooting 37.9 percent and 3-of-9 from 3-point distance. The Bulldogs improved to 40.9 percent from the field and 3-of-8 from beyond the 3-point arc, but could not overcome their slow start. Denver pushed its lead to as many as 28 points in the second half and cruised to victory.

Denver had the edge in points in the paint, 36-20. The Pioneers scored 18 points off of 16 Bulldog turnovers.
