Recap: Seattle vs. Idaho

Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Kyle Barone delivered a double-double consisting of 25 points and 11 rebounds as he helped guide the Idaho Vandals to a 71-64 win over the Seattle Redhawks in Western Athletic Conference play at KeyArena.

Also scoring in double figures for the Vandals (5-6, 1-0 WAC) were Robert Harris and Connor Hill with 16 and 12 points, respectively, as the team won for the second time in the last three outings.

D'Vonne Pickett shot 8-of-12 from the floor as he finished with 17 points as the Redhawks (5-6, 0-1) played their first Division I conference game in 33 years. Clarence Trent accounted for 14 points and Deshaun Sunderhaus 10 as the team had a two-game win streak snapped.

Idaho led by as many as eight points less than eight minutes into the first half, but the visitors allowed Seattle to hit on 51.6 percent from the floor in the period. Despite converting just 2-of-10 from 3-point range over the first 20 minutes of action, the Redhawks still moved out to a 36-33 lead at the break.

In the second half the hosts made a mere nine field goals and were just 2-of-7 on the perimeter as they allowed Idaho to battle back and eventually claim the seven-point road win.

In a game that featured eight ties and 10 lead changes, the Redhawks ended up being outscored 20-10 at the free-throw line.

Seattle, which left the NCAA in 1980 in order to compete at the NAIA level, began the process of transitioning back to Div I status in 2008 and after four seasons as an Independent, made the move to the WAC beginning this season.
