Recap: Northern Iowa vs. Creighton

Cedar Falls, IA (Sports Network) - The Northern Iowa Panthers defeated the Creighton Bluejays 61-54 thanks to a double-double from Jack Koch in a Missouri Valley Conference matchup at the McLeod Center.

Koch had 14 points and 10 rebounds to go with three blocks and two steals for UNI (15-11), which won its fourth in a row. Seth Tuttle and Deon Mitchell added 12 points each.

Doug McDermott supplied a double-double of his own for Creighton (20-6, 9-5) with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Grant Gibbs had 14 points and five assists while Gregory Echenique scored 11 points. The Bluejays have now dropped their last three games.

Although the Panthers shot just 38.5 percent from the field in the first half, they went 10-of-13 from the free-throw line where the Bluejays missed both of their free tries. UNI led 32-25 at halftime thanks to its edge at the charity stripe in the opening 20 minutes..

In the second half, both teams went just 2-of-9 from 3-point range and split the half 29-29.

UNI recorded 11 steals and forced Creighton into 18 turnovers which the Panthers flipped into 19 points.
