Recap: Texas State vs. Louisiana Tech

San Marcos, TX (Sports Network) - Cordarius Johnson scored 17 points as he made good on 5-of-9 shots behind the 3-point line, as he helped guide the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs to an 84-67 win over the Texas State Bobcats in Western Athletic Conference play at Strahan Coliseum.

Also scoring in double figures for the Bulldogs (13-3, 4-0 WAC), as they won their fifth straight outing, were Raheem Appleby and Jaron Johnson 12 and 10 points, respectively. Kenneth Smith accounted for 10 rebounds and six assists for the visitors.

The Bobcats (4-13, 0-5), losers of eight straight, were paced by Joel Wright who tallied a game-high 24 points and cleared seven boards in the setback. Wesley Davis contributed 14 points and Deonte' Jones 11.

LaTech scored the first points of the night and never looked back, building a 38-21 lead at the break based on a defensive effort that held the Bobcats to a mere 29.4 percent shooting from the floor, including 1-of-6 beyond the arc.

In the second half Texas State erupted for 60.7 percent accuracy from the field and 7-of-13 out on the perimeter, but it proved to be too little, too late in the 17-point decision.

The Bulldogs finished the night shooting 42.7 percent from the floor and easily won the rebounding battle by a 54-32 margin.
