Recap: Drake vs. Missouri State

Des Moines, IA (Sports Network) - Anthony Downing scored 24 points for the Missouri State Bears as they took a 77-65, Missouri Valley Conference win over the Drake Bulldogs at the Knapp Center.

Downing was 7-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, for the Bears (4-11, 2-1 MVC), who have now won two of their last three after an eight game losing streak. Gavin Thurman (13 points), Marcus Marshall (11 points), and Keith Pickens (10 points) all scored in double-figures for Missouri State.

Joey King scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds off the bench for the Bulldogs (6-8, 0-3), who dropped their third in a row. Ben Simons managed 17 points and five rebounds while Chris Hines tallied 10 points.

The Bears led 36-26 at halftime after Drake shot just 26.9 percent from the floor in the first half.

In the second half, Missouri State shot an efficient 56.5 percent from the field and outscored the Bulldogs 41-39.

Drake shot 41.8 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from downtown while the Bears were 51.0 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from long-range.
