Recap: Drake vs. Evansville

Des Moines, IA (Sports Network) - Chris Hines scored 21 points to lead the Drake Bulldogs to an 83-69 victory over the Evansville Purple Aces in Missouri Valley Conference action at the Knapp Center.

Ben Simons added 18 points, Richard Carter had 13 points and six assists off the bench and Seth VanDeest added 11 points for Drake (8-9, 2-4 MVC) which has won back-to-back games after a four-game losing streak.

Colt Ryan had a game-high 25 points for Evansville (11-7, 3-2) which also got 13 points for DJ Balentine and 12 points from Ned Cox. The Purple Aces had a four-game winning streak snapped with the loss.

Evansville led by as many as 10 points in the first half but Drake rallied to take a 39-38 lead at the break. The Bulldogs hit 41.2 percent of their shots in the first half while the Purple Aces made good on 41.4 percent.

After halftime Drake heated up to 65.2 percent shooting to pull away for the win. Evansville lagged behind connecting on just 24.1 percent and 1-of-13 from beyond the arc.

Drake outscored Evansville 33-15 from 3-point range in the contest.
