Recap: Northern Iowa vs. Drake

Cedar Falls, IA (Sports Network) - Deon Mitchell netted 20 points as the Northern Iowa Panthers routed the Drake Bulldogs, 85-55, in a Missouri Valley Conference bout at the McLeod Center.

Jake Koch added 16 points and seven rebounds and Seth Tuttle and Anthony James each had 10 points for Northern Iowa (10-9, 3-4 MVC) which has won two of its last three contests.

Richard Carter came off the bench to score 16 points for Drake (8-10, 2-5) which also got 10 points and eight rebounds from Jordan Clarke. The Bulldogs had won back-to-back games entering play.

At the end of the first half Northern Iowa led 37-22 by shooting 52 percent from the floor while Drake lagged behind at 30 percent.

In the second half the Panthers improved to 68 percent shooting to cruise to the 30-point victory.

The Panthers had a 24-15 edge in points off turnovers and a 34-26 advantage on the boards.
