Recap: Tenn Tech vs. Evansville

Cookeville, TN (Sports Network) - Ned Cox finished with 15 points and six assists to lead the Evansville Purple Aces over the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, 62-50, in a non-conference tilt at the Eblen Center.

D.J. Balentine added 11 points for the Purple Aces (3-2) as he knocked down 3- of-5 shots behind the three-point line in a reserve role.

For the Golden Eagles (3-1), Dennis Ogbe and Lanerryl Johnson each finished with 10 points.

Evansville shot 46.2 percent from the field in the first half, hitting 3-of-6 on its three-point attempts, and took a 33-17 lead at halftime. Tennessee Tech struggled mightily, making only 26.1 percent of its field goal attempts in the opening period.

After the break, the Golden Eagles greatly improved, connecting on 48.1 percent of their field goal attempts, including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. Unfortunately for the home team, the Purple Aces improved their shooting too, hitting 52.2 percent from the floor and 4-of-10 from three-point range. Evansville led by as many as 26 in the second half and cruised to the easy victory.

The Purple Aces dominated the Golden Eagles under the basket, outscoring them in the paint, 24-14, and outrebounding the hosts, 34-24.
