Recap: Texas State vs. New Mexico St

San Marcos, TX (Sports Network) - Bandja Sy registered a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds as he helped guide the New Mexico State Aggies to an 86-72 win over the Texas State Bobcats in Western Athletic Conference play at Strahan Coliseum.

Playing 39 minutes on the night, Sy converted both of his attempts behind the 3-point line and was 9-of-11 from the floor overall for the Aggies (14-8, 8-2 WAC) as they extended their win streak to eight in a row. Daniel Mullings finished with 22 points, hitting all 10 of his opportunities at the free-throw line, followed by Remi Barry and Sim Bhullar with 10 points apiece.

The Bobcats (7-15, 3-7) were paced by Matt Staff with his 20 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, but still the squad had a three-game win streak snapped. Corey Stern tacked on 16 points and Joel Wright 14 off the bench, although the latter shot a mere 3-of-18 from the floor.

Texas State led by three points early in the meeting, but the team ended up shooting just 3-of-12 beyond the arc in the first half, en route to a 45-36 deficit at the break. NMSU connected on not only 55.6 percent from the floor in the period but also 5-of-7 on the perimeter.

The Aggies continued their hot shooting in the second half, making an identical 55.6 percent (15-of-27), as they cruised to the 14-point victory on the road.

New Mexico State produced a 42-33 rebounding advantage in the meeting.
