Recap: Illinois State vs. Austin Peay

Normal, Illinois (Sports Network) - Jackie Carmichael recorded his second consecutive double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds as the Illinois State Redbirds handled the Austin Peay Governors, 83-57, at the Redbird Arena.

Carmichael was 8-of-13 from the field for the Redbirds (9-3), who won their fourth game in a row. Tyler Brown added 16 points and six assists while John Wilkins contributed 14 points off the bench on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor. Jon Ekey scored 11 points and played a strong defensive game tallying three blocks and a steal.

Anthony Campbell led all scorers with 20 points for the Governors (4-8), who took their fourth loss in as many games. Campbell was 5-of-9 from three-point range and was the only Austin Peay player to score in double-figures in the setback.

Illinois State led 44-28 at halftime after holding the Governors to 39.3 percent shooting in the first half.

In the second half the Redbirds shot 55.2 percent from the field and outscored Austin Peay 39-29 to close out their convincing win.

APSU recorded 25 turnovers which led to 28 points for the Redbirds who tallied 12 steals and seven blocks.
