Recap: San Jose St vs. Texas State

San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Joel Wright registered a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds as the Texas State Bobcats crushed the San Jose State Spartans, 90-67, in Western Athletic Conference action at The Event Center.

Also scoring in double figures for the Bobcats (10-21, 5-13 WAC) were Matt Staff and Deonte Jones with 15 and 12 points, respectively, as they snapped a two-game slide with the victory in the regular-season finale.

The Spartans (9-19, 3-13), who had to have their game against Texas-San Antonio on Thursday night due to a leaky roof, were led by Chris Cunningham with 17 points and seven boards, followed by David Andoh and LaVanne Pennington off the bench with 12 and 10 points, respectively, as they had their losing streak extended to 13 games.

Texas State scored the first points of the night and never looked back, shooting an incredible 75.0 percent from the field, including 6-of-8 beyond the arc, en route to a 52-40 advantage at the break.

The Bobcats continued to pile on in the second half with 55.6 percent accuracy from beyond the arc, compared to a woeful 1-of-13 for the hosts, as the visitors cruised to the lopsided win.

In addition to shooting a staggering 64.7 percent from the field on the night, TSU also limited the home team to a meager 35.5 percent.
