Recap: Illinois State vs. Missouri State

Normal, IL (Sports Network) - Tyler Brown led all scorers with 25 points as the Illinois State Redbirds made easy work of the Missouri State Bears, 86-50, in a Missouri Valley Conference bout at Redbird Arena.

It was Brown's 13th 20-plus point performance this season for Illinois State (17-13, 8-9 MVC), which snapped a three-game losing streak. Jackie Carmichael was stellar in the paint with 16 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks, while Johnny Hill added 15 points on 4-of-6 from the field and 6-of-6 from the foul line.

For Missouri State (9-21, 6-11), only Anthony Downing netted in double figures with 12 points. The Bears, who shot just 37.5 percent from the floor, have lost three of four.

Illinois State outshot Missouri State from the field in the first half, 56 percent to 34.5 percent, as it took a comfortable 43-25 lead into intermission.

The Redbirds' field goal efficiency actually improved to 62.5 percent in the final 20 minutes as they led by as many as 39.

Illinois State shot 18-of-24 from the free-throw line on the night, while the Bears were just 5-of-12 from the stripe.
