Recap: Texas State vs. Texas-Arlington

San Marcos, TX (Sports Network) - Brandon Edwards recorded a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 13 rebounds as he helped lead the Mavericks of Texas-Arlington to a 91-74 win over the Texas State Bobcats in Western Athletic Conference action at Strahan Coliseum.

One of five players to score in double figures for the Mavericks (8-6, 3-2 WAC), Edwards shot 6-of-7 from the floor and handed of five assists as the team won for the second time in as many games. The top scorer for UTA was Karol Gruszecki who tallied 23 points, followed by Kevin Butler with 15 and both Jordan Reves and Cameron Catlett with 11 points, the latter handing out seven assists as well.

The Bobcats (4-14, 0-6) were paced by Joel Wright who scored a game-high 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor, including a perfect 4-of-4 behind the 3-point line. Deonte' Jones contributed 21 points as he knocked down 5- of-9 shots on the perimeter as the team lost for the ninth straight time.

Both teams shot better than 51 percent from the floor in the first half, but thanks to 6-of-14 accuracy on the perimeter and 4-of-4 at the charity stripe, UTA was able to produce a 44-34 lead at the break.

In the second half the Mavericks put the game out of reach by knocking down not only 62.5 percent from the field, but also 6-of-11 on the outside, en route to the comfortable 17-point win.

Arlington turned the ball over just six times on the day.
