Recap: Texas State vs. TX-San Antonio

San Marcos, TX (Sports Network) - Kannon Burrage tallied 15 points to pace a balanced attack as the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners defeated the Texas State Bobcats, 73-62, in Western Athletic Conference action at Strahan Coliseum.

Michael Hale III and Jeromie Hill chipped in 13 points apiece for the Roadrunners (6-18, 2-12 WAC) as they snapped a six-game losing slide. Jordan Sims and Edrico McGregor scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, with the latter also pulling down nine boards for UTSA.

Matt Staff registered a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Bobcats (7-19, 3-11) as they lost for the fifth time in a row. Phil Hawkins and Joel Wright tallied 13 points each for Texas State.

UTSA outscored the Bobcats, 18-4, in the paint and shot 54.5 percent from the field to dominate the first half en route to a 46-20 halftime lead. Texas State made only 31.8 percent of its shots from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.

The Bobcats heated up after the break to knock down 41.7 percent of their shots from the field and convert 9-of-12 at the free-throw line. Although UTSA went just 6-of-24 from the floor in the second stanza, it sank 13-of-16 at the charity stripe to protect its early lead.

The Roadrunners held a 42-36 edge in the rebounding battle and produced 19 second chance points to Texas State's 11 in the contest.
