Recap: Northern Iowa vs. Missouri State

Cedar Falls, IA (Sports Network) - Anthony James tallied a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Northern Iowa Panthers prevailed in a defensive struggle over the Missouri State Bears, 48-37, in a Missouri Valley Conference battle at the McLeod Center.

Jake Koch added 11 points and seven boards for UNI (13-11, 6-6 MVC), which has won back-to-back games.

Anthony Downing led Missouri State (7-17, 5-7) with nine points and seven rebounds. The Bears, who had won two of their previous three games, shot just 27.3 percent from the field on the night.

Neither team shot greater than 30 percent from the floor in the first half, but James drilled a pair of free throws late in the frame to give UNI a 20-19 lead heading into intermission.

The Panthers used a 14-1 run late in the second half to pull away in the low- scoring affair.

UNI held a 11-4 scoring advantage at the foul line.
