Recap: TX-San Antonio vs. Utah State

San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Preston Medlin recorded a game-high 24 points as the Utah State Aggies defeated the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners, 71-67, in Western Athletic Conference play at the Convocation Center.

Medlin was 9-of-15 from the floor, including three 3-pointers for the Aggies (10-1, 1-0 WAC). Spencer Butterfield contributed 14 points and seven boards, while Jarred Shaw was one rebound shy of a double-double as he finished with 11 points as the team extending its win streak to nine in a row.

For the Roadrunners (4-7, 0-1), Jordan Sims scored a team-high 20 points. Jeromie Hill was one rebound shy of a double-double scoring 12 points, followed by Kannon Burrage who contributed 14 points and six rebounds in the sixth setback in the last seven games for the program.

Utah State made an impressive 69.6 percent from the floor in the first half, while holding the Roadrunners to 40 percent accuracy. The hosts were able to knock down 6-of-15 shots on the perimeter over the first 20 minutes of action, but still the Aggies enjoyed a 39-31 advantage at the half.

USU continued its impressive shooting in the second half, hitting 12-of-22 from the floor. UTSA still seemed to struggle with only 38.2 percent from the field after intermission, but the home team was able to stay close by again making good on 5-of-14 on the outside before suffering the four-point loss.

The Aggies picked up the victory despite shooting only 10-of-21 at the free- throw line.
