Recap: Utah State vs. St Marys-CA

Logan, UT (Sports Network) - Matthew Dellavedova netted 21 points to lead the Saint Mary's Gaels to a 67-58 win over Utah State at the Deen Glen Smith Spectrum.

Stephen Holt added 16 points for Saint Mary's (2-0) while James Walker chipped in 14 off the bench.

Three players also finished in double figures for Utah State (1-1) lead by a 7-point, 15-rebound double-double from Jarred Shaw. Kyisean Reed had 16 points and eight boards and Danny Berger contributed 10 points. The Aggies got only four points off the bench.

Saint Mary's was electric in the first half hitting on 66.7 percent of its shots from the floor including a 6-of-9 effort from beyond the arc. Utah State shot just 34.4 percent but had a 7-0 edge from the free throw line to remain within striking distance, 34-31, at the half.

The Gaels crumbled to just 28.0 percent shooting in the second half but held the Aggies to a 30.0 percent performance and doubled up on Utah State in points from the charity stripe (16-8).

Utah State lost despite pulling in more rebounds (49-30) including 24 offensive boards with the Aggies turned into 19 points.
