Recap: Green Bay vs. Southern Ill

Green Bay, WI (Sports Network) - T.J. Lindsay scored 14 points to lead the Southern Illinois Salukis to a 72-70 victory over the Green Bay Phoenix, in a non-conference showdown at the Resch Center.

For the Salukis (5-2). Anthony Beane, Jr, added 13 points, Dantiel Daniels finished with 12 points and Desmar Jackson chipped in with 11 points.

Keifer Sykes led the Phoenix (3-7) with a game-high 22 points, while Kam Cerroni finished with 14 points and Alec Brown scored 10 points.

In the first half, Green Bay shot just 40.0 percent from the field, but took advantage of a 19-10 scoring advantage at the free-throw line, as the Phoenix went into halftime ahead 41-37. Southern Illinois connected on 48.0 percent from the field in the half.

After the break, the Salukis shot 46.4 percent from the field and held the Phoenix to 40.9 percent shooting. The Phoenix led by six, 62-56, with just under eight minutes remaining when the Salukis responded with a 8-0 run to take the lead. The Phoenix briefly regained the lead with four minutes remaining, 65-64, but the Salukis finished the game on a 7-4 run. Sykes missed a shot at the buzzer that would have sent the game into overtime, as the Salukis escaped with the victory.

Southern Illinois converted 16 Green Bay turnovers into 21 points. The Phoenix outscored the Salukis, 26-16, from the free-throw line for the game.
