Recap: Portland State vs. Eastern Wash

Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Renado Parker tied a career-high with 20 points as the Portland State Vikings defeated the Eastern Washington Eagles, 89-80, in a Big Sky Conference matchup at the Stott Center.

Parker shot 9-of-17 from the field and also grabbed seven rebounds for PSU (7-16, 5-11 Big Sky), while Michael Harthun was nearly perfect en route to 18 points, going 5-of-6 from the field and 6-of-6 from the foul line. Aaron Moore (17 points, nine rebounds) and Gary Winston (14 points, five assists) were also stellar for the Vikings, who have won two straight on the heels of an eight-game losing streak.

For EWU (8-18, 6-10), Tyler Harvey also had a career-high with 23 points off the bench. Venky Jois (17 points, nine rebounds) and Martin Seiferth (16 points, nine rebounds, three blocks) were both strong in the trenches, while Jeffrey Forbes added 17 points before fouling out. The Eagles had won their previous two bouts heading into tonight's action.

The Vikings played outstanding on both ends of the floor in the first half, outshooting the Eagles from the field, 65.5 percent to 36.1 percent, as they took a 43-31 lead into intermission.

EWU made a push early in the second half, using a 16-0 run to take a 53-50 advantage with 12:33 to play, but PSU managed to retake the lead a few minutes later on a Winston 3-pointer and it never again trailed. The Vikings iced the game in the final 1:29 by shooting 11-of-13 from the foul line.

EWU lost despite outscoring PSU in the paint (46-36) and in points off turnovers (16-13).
