Recap: Idaho State vs. Eastern Wash

Pocatello, ID (Sports Network) - Parker Kelly finished with a game-high 28 points to lead the Eastern Washington Eagles over the Idaho State Bengals, 87-73, in a Big Sky Conference bout at Reed Gym.

For the Eagles (10-20 7-12 Big Sky), Tyler Harvey added 17 points and seven assists, while Martin Seiferth scored 17 points and Jois Venky chipped in with 11 points, as Eastern Washington kept its slim hopes of a Big Sky Conference Tournament berth alive.

Andre Hatchett led the Bengals (5-24, 4-15) with 20 points, while Melvin Morgan added 19 points and Chris Hansen tallied 17 points.

Eastern Washington took a 42-29 lead into the break by connecting on 53.6 percent from the field and draining 9-of-14 from 3-point range. Idaho State shot just 35.3 percent from the field and 3-of-9 from beyond the 3-point arc in the first half.

After intermission, the Eagles continued to knock down shots, hitting on 53.9 percent of their field goal tries, including 5-of-12 from 3-point distance. The Bengals improved to 44.9 percent shooting from the field and 4-of-12 from beyond the 3-point arc in the second half. Eastern Washington led by double- figures for the entire half, going ahead by as many as 21 points, as they cruised to victory.

This game was the 400th of Eastern Washington head coach Jim Hayford's career. The Eagles had a 41-35 rebounding advantage on the night.
