Recap: Idaho State vs. Montana

Pocatello, ID (Sports Network) - Will Cherry scored 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the Montana Grizzlies secured a 61-54 win over the Idaho State Bengals in Big Sky Conference action at Reed Gym.

Cherry shot just 1-of-8 from the floor, but made up for it with 8-of-11 at the free-throw line and also contributed six assists and three steals as the Grizzlies (19-5, 15-1 Big Sky) bounced back from their first conference loss of the season on Thursday night versus Weber State. Mathias Ward posted 12 points, followed by Mike Weisner and Kareem Jamar with 10 points apiece.

The Bengals (5-20, 4-12), losers of eight of the last nine, were paced by Melvin Morgan and Chris Hansen with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Both teams had a hard time shooting the ball in the first half, but the Grizzlies were able to knock down five 3-pointers in the frame in order to move out to a 29-22 advantage at the break.

In the second half Montana bounced back with an impressive 57.9 percent shooting from the field in order to take the win on the road.

Montana, which led by as many as 14 points in the outing, received 22 points from the reserves.
