Recap: Montana vs. Portland State

Missoula, MT (Sports Network) - Will Cherry tallied 16 points and seven assists as the Montana Grizzlies held off the Portland State Vikings, 62-55, in Big Sky Conference play at Dahlberg Arena.

Kareem Jamar added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Mathias Ward chipped in 11 points for Montana (8-4, 4-0 Big Sky), which has won four in a row to open its conference schedule.

Aaron Moore logged a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds from off the bench for Portland State (3-8, 1-3), and Renado Parker had 12 points and seven boards.

Montana outshot Portland State in the first half, 48.1 percent to 24.1 percent, to take a comfortable 35-21 lead at intermission.

The Vikings' field goal shooting improved to 54.2 percent in the second half, but they never got closer than five points of the lead.

The Grizzlies made 90 percent of their free throw attempts in the contest (18- of-20), while Portland State was only 11-of-16 from the stripe.
