Recap: Northern Colorado vs. Montana

Greeley, CO (Sports Network) - Kareem Jamar scored a game-high 26 points as the Montana Grizzlies posted an 85-77 win over the Northern Colorado Bears in Big Sky Conference action at Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion.

Jamar, who also handed out six assists, shot 9-of-10 from the floor, including 4-of-5 behind the three-point line for the Grizzlies (10-5, 6-0 Big Sky) as they won their sixth straight game. Will Cherry filled up his stat line with 21 points, six assists and five rebounds, followed by Mike Weisner with 11 points and six boards off the bench.

The Bears (3-11, 1-5) were led by Derrick Barden who recorded a double-double with 21 points and a game-high 15 rebounds but still the team was handed a fifth consecutive setback. Tevin Svihovec and Tate Unruh both dropped in 19 points and Connor Osborne 10 for the hosts.

UNC opened the game on a 9-3 run and led by as many as 15 points in the first half, but Montana didn't back down and managed to move ahead at the break, 44-41, on the strength of 55.6 percent shooting from the floor and 8-of-15 accuracy beyond the arc.

In the second half the Grizzlies again had the hot hand with an identical 15- of-27 shooting from the floor once more, giving the visitors the inside track towards an eight-point win.

In a game that featured six ties and 11 lead changes, Northern Colorado knocked down an impressive 8-of-16 on the perimeter, but a disappointing 9- of-19 at the free-throw line on the night.
