Recap: Howard vs. Gardner-Webb

Cancun, MX (Sports Network) - Donta Harper finished with 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists on Tuesday to help the Gardner Webb Runnin' Bulldogs down the Howard Bison, 55-43, at the Cancun Classic.

Kevin Hartley chipped in 12 points and six boards for the Runnin' Bulldogs (3-3), who advance to take on Austin Peay in Wednesday's championship game.

Alphonso Leary scored a team-high 15 points to go with six rebounds and Simuel Frazier donated seven points and seven steals for the Bison (0-4), who will face Western Carolina in Wednesday's third-place game.

Max Landis scored the final five points of the first half to send Gardner-Webb into the break holding a 22-15 advantage.

Howard pulled within three early in the second, but the Runnin' Bulldogs scored the next nine points to build a double-digit advantage.

The lead never dipped below 10 the rest of the way.
