Recap: Delaware vs. Towson

Newark, DE (Sports Network) - Jerrelle Benimon recorded a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Towson Tigers who earned a Colonial Athletic Association win over the Delaware Blue Hens, 69-66, at the Bob Carpenter Center.

Benimon was 8-of-12 from the field with five assists but did have eight turnovers for the Tigers (9-9, 4-1 CAA), who have won five of their last six games. Marcus Damas (13 points, seven rebounds), Rafriel Guthrie (15 points), and Bilal Dixon (10 points) all added significant performances in the Towson win.

Jamelle Hagins scored 16 points with eight rebounds and three blocks for the Blue Hens (8-9, 3-1), who saw their five-game winning streak come to an end. Devon Saddler also scored 16 points while turning the ball over five times and Jarvis Threatt added 12 points, three steals, and a team-high three assists.

Delaware led 29-26 going into the break after holding the Tigers to just 1- of-7 shooting from 3-point range.

Towson outscored the Blue Hens 43-37 in the second half, shooting 59.1 percent from the field. After a layup by Saddler cut Delaware's deficit to just one point with 17 seconds remaining, Damas hit two clutch free-throws with four seconds left giving the Tigers a three-point lead. Saddler's game-tying 3- point shot attempt with one second left was no good.

The Tigers earned a 37-30 rebounding edge and shot 48.1 percent from the floor while the Blue Hens shot 40.4 percent. Both teams struggled from beyond the arc as Towson shot 1-of-9 and Delaware went 0-of-8.
