Recap: Northern Ariz vs. Northern Colorado

Flagstaff, AZ (Sports Network) - Michael Dunn scored just five points, but he drained the game-winning jumper in the waning seconds to lift the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks to a 67-65 triumph over the Northern Colorado Bears in a Big Sky Conference bout at Walkup Skydome.

Gabe Rogers poured in a season-high 28 points on 11-of-19 from the field for NAU (7-12, 4-5 Big Sky), which has won back-to-back games for the first time all season. DeWayne Russell added 13 points and six assists.

For Northern Colorado (5-12, 3-6), Tevin Svihovec scored 16 points, Derrick Barden tallied a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Tim Huskisson chipped in 10 points.

Northern Colorado opened the game on a 12-4 run and took a 34-32 lead at intermission. The Bears shot an impressive 54.2 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes, while NAU kept the game close by shooting 4-of-9 from 3- point range.

The teams exchanged several leads in the second half, and following a pair of free throws by Rogers with 14 seconds left, NAU held a 65-62 advantage. Northern Colorado answered on its final possession with a Svihovec 3-pointer to tie the game up with four seconds to play, but the Lumberjacks capped the game in dramatic fashion on Dunn's last-second basket.

Northern Colorado outshot NAU in the game, 52.1 percent to 51.9 percent, although the Lumberjacks won the turnover battle, 14-10.
