Recap: Northern Colorado vs. Sacramento St

Greeley, CO (Sports Network) - Derrick Barden scored 21 points and pulled down 14 rebounds as the Northern Colorado Bears posted a 78-64 win over the Sacramento State Hornets in Big Sky Conference action at Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion.

Tate Unruh added 20 points and Tim Huskisson 15 for the Bears (9-15, 7-9 Big Sky) as they won their third game in a row.

The Hornets (12-12, 7-9) were paced by Cody Demps who tallied 13 points and six rebounds off the bench, followed by Konner Veteto with 12 points and eight boards as the team bowed for the second time in as many outings.

UNC shot an impressive 51.4 percent from the floor in the first half and also beat the visitors on the glass, 22-14, in order to post a 45-27 lead at the break.

In the second half both squads converted 50 percent from the floor, but the Hornets connected on only 2-of-11 behind the 3-point line, allowing UNC to control the outcome.

Sacramento State shot only 3-of-17 beyond the arc on the night as well as a disappointing 9-of-18 at the charity stripe.
