Recap: Georgia State vs. Tennessee St

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Rashad Richardson drained a half-court shot at the buzzer to give the Georgia State Panthers a thrilling 59-57 victory over the Tennessee State Tigers as part of the Coaches vs. Cancers Classic at GSU Sports Arena.

Richardson finished with nine points for the Panthers (2-2), while Devonta White led the way with 19 points and Cameron Solomon finished with 10.

Robert Covington led the Tigers (1-4) with 13 points, while Patrick Miller and Jordan Cyphers each added 12 points.

Both teams struggled from the floor in the first half. The Panthers shot 33.3 percent from the field. but did hit on 4-of-11 three-point attempts to take a slim 25-24 lead at the break. The Tigers shot just 37 percent in the half and could only manage to make 3-of-13 from beyond the arc.

After the break the Panthers heated up, connecting on 57.1 percent of their field goal attempts. The Tigers shot only 40.6 percent in the second half, but a 15-6 advantage from three-point range allowed them to stay close.

The Tigers took a 57-56 lead on a layup with just two seconds remaining, but after a Georgia State timeout, Richardson caught the inbounds pass at mid- court, turned and launched the 45-foot game winner.

TSU outrebounded the Panthers 37-27 in a game that experienced six ties and 19 lead changes. The hosts outscored the Tigers 11-3 at the free-throw line.
