Recap: Towson vs. Georgia State

Towson, MD (Sports Network) - R.J. Hunter scored a game-high 27 points as he helped lead the Georgia State Panthers to a 71-69 win over the Towson Tigers in a Colonial Athletic Association bout at the Towson Center.

Also scoring in double figures for the Panthers (8-12, 4-3 CAA) were Devonta White and Rashaad Richardson with 14 and 11 points, respectively, as the team won for the third time in as many outings.

The Tigers (10-10, 5-1) were paced by Jerrelle Benimon with a double-double consisting of 18 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Jerome Hairston with 16 points, five boards and five assists. Mike Burwell, who made 4-of-8 shots behind the 3-point line, added 14 points and Marcus Damas 11 for the hosts as they had a two-game win streak snapped.

Towson shot only 39.3 percent from the floor in the first half, yet the team trailed by just two points at the break, 33-31. The Panthers connected on 44.4 percent from the field through the first 20 minutes.

In the second half Towson managed to pull ahead by four points less than two minutes into the frame, but with GSU knocking down an impressive 8-of-14 beyond the arc made it difficult for the Tigers to keep up.

In a game that featured 14 ties and nine lead changes, Towson took the loss despite outscoring the visitors at the free-throw line, 16-8.
