Recap: Hofstra vs. UNC-Wilmington

Hempstead, NY (Sports Network) - Chris Dixon netted a game-high 22 points as the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks defeated the Hofstra Pride, 57-51, in Colonial Athletic Association play at the Mack Sports Complex.

Dixon dished out five assists and was two rebounds shy of a double-double for the Seahawks (8-11, 3-4 CAA) in the victory. Tanner Milson added 17 points and three assists. Keith Rendleman chipped in 11 points and six boards as UNC- Wilmington won its third game of the last four.

For the Pride (5-15, 2-5), Taran Buie scored a team-high 13 points and pulled down six rebounds. Stevie Mejia and Stephen Nwaukoni scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, as Hofstra fell for the fourth time in a row.

Both teams struggled shooting in the first half. The Seahawks were 6-of-22 from the floor. Hofstra was just slightly better at 8-of-24 from the field, but it made 6-of-7 free throws, en route to a 22-17 advantage at the break.

After the break, UNC-Wilmington made 45.5 percent from the floor including 7- of-14 from long range. Hofstra was held to a mere 9-of-25 from the floor in the second half, during which it was outscored 40-29.

Hofstra struggled, making only 3-of-18 from long-range. The Seahawks were 11- of-23 from beyond the arc and 14-of-17 from the free-throw line on the day.
