Recap: Northeastern vs. UNC-Wilmington

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Joel Smith led all scorers with 23 points, and the Northeastern Huskies defeated the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks, 68-64, in Colonial Athletic Association play at Matthews Arena.

Demetrius Pollard added 17 points off the bench and Jonathan Lee finished with 10 points for the Huskies (7-7, 2-0 CAA), who notched only their second home win in seven tries this season.

The Seahawks (5-9, 0-2) fell to 0-8 on the road, despite 20 points off the bench from Tanner Milson, who shot 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. Keith Rendleman notched a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds in the loss, while Cedrick Williams scored 12 and pulled down seven boards.

UNCW shot a healthy 66.7 percent from the floor in the first half (14-of-21) yet still trailed, 34-32, at the break thanks to NU's 20-6 edge in points off turnovers.

The Seahawks took a 48-45 lead on Milson's 3-pointer with 11:45 to play in regulation. However, the Huskies answered with an 11-2 run to go up by six with 8:10 remaining, and they held on to the lead the rest of the way.

The Huskies were outrebounded by a 34-24 margin for the game, but they made up for it by committing only seven turnovers, compared to 18 for UNCW.
