Recap: Southern Utah vs. Green Bay

Reno, NV (Sports Network) - Alec Brown recorded a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Green Bay Phoenix to a 66-54 victory over the Southern Utah Thunderbirds in the World Vision Classic at the Lawlor Events Center.

Brennan Cougill also had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds for Green Bay (2-0). Keifer Sykes added 13 points and four assists while Carrington Love came off the bench to score 11 points.

Jackson Stevenett paced Southern Utah (0-2) with 15 points. Wade Collie finished with team-highs of eight rebounds and five assists in the losing effort.

The Phoenix took a 34-24 lead into the intermission due to a stifling defensive performance in the opening 20 minutes. The Thunderbirds fell behind after making only 8-of-28 attempts from the floor in the first half.

Green Bay was not stellar offensively after the break as it made only 40 percent of its field goal attempts. The Thunderbirds could not take advantage as they made only 2-of-10 from three-point range in the second half, which allowed the Phoenix to cruise to the double-digit victory.

Green Bay dominated inside by outscoring its opponents 38-20 in the paint and by holding a 51-40 advantage in the rebounding battle.
