Recap: Weber State vs. BYU

Ogden, UT (Sports Network) - Brandon Davies poured in 33 points as the BYU Cougars toppled the Weber State Wildcats 78-68 in a non-conference bout at Dee Events Center.

Davies hauled in eight rebounds and Tyler Haws scored 23 points for BYU (7-3) which has won five of its lat six.

Davion Berry netted 25 points and Gelaun Wheelwright tacked on 12 points off the bench for Weber State (4-3) which had a three-game winning streak snapped.

BYU led 36-26 at halftime after connecting on 48.0 percent of its first half shots and all 12 attempts from the free throw line. Weber State shot just 40.7 percent and hit only 2-of-9 shots from the charity stripe.

The Cougars heated up to 58.6 percent shooting in the second half and led by as many as 15 points. The Wildcats improved to 48.3 percent shooting but couldn't overcome the deficit it dealt itself in the first half.

BYU had a 35-28 edge on the boards and outscored Weber State 36-30 on points in the paint.
