The first half ended with both teams even at 28-28. Towson shot 11-of-25 from the floor, while the Tribe were 10-of-29.

William & Mary led by as many as 13 with under eight minutes to play in the game, but Towson came storming back, and a Kris Walden steal and layup with 18 seconds left tied the game at 68-68 and forced overtime.

After a pair of Hairston free throws gave Towson a 78-75 advantage with just nine seconds left in the first extra session, Thornton drained a 3-pointer on the other end to force another overtime.

Towson opened up on an 11-1 run in the second overtime, effectively sealing its fate.

Towson made 27-of-33 from the foul line and forced 22 William & Mary turnovers.
