Recap: Towson vs. UNC-Wilmington

Towson, MD (Sports Network) - Jerrelle Benimon registered a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Towson Tigers posted an 81-68 win over the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington in Colonial Athletic Association action at the Towson Center.

Jerome Hairston accounted for 18 points, Rafriel Guthrie 14 off the bench and Marcus Damas 12 points for the Tigers (12-12, 7-4 CAA) as they won their second straight outing.

The Seahawks (8-14, 3-7) were paced by Keith Rendleman with 19 points and 12 rebounds, but still the squad lost for the third time in as many games. Craig Ponder added 12 points, followed by Chris Dixon and Shane Reybold with 11 points apiece.

Shooting an impressive 57.1 percent from the field in the first half, including 3-of-6 behind the 3-point line, the Tigers grabbed a 42-32 advantage at the break.

In the second half Towson dipped to 48.3 percent from the floor and a mere 2- of-11 beyond the arc, but still the team played well enough to secure the double-digit win.

UNCW cleared 20 offensive rebounds in the meeting, but shot just 39.7 percent from the field on the night.
