Recap: UNC-Wilmington vs. William & Mary

Wilmington, NC (Sports Network) - Tim Rusthoven sank a free-throw attempt on the final play of the contest to lift the William & Mary Tribe to a 73-72 decision over the UNC Wilmington Seahawks in a Colonial Athletic Association tilt at Trask Coliseum.

Rusthoven, Brandon Britt and Marcus Thornton all finished with 17 points for William & Mary (13-15, 7-10 CAA) as it picked up its fourth win in five games. Julian Boatner added 11 points in 13 minutes off the bench while Matt Rum pulled down eight boards.

Keith Rendleman paced UNCW (10-19, 5-12) with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Freddie Jackson contributed 16 points, six rebounds and six assists. Chris Dixon got into the mix with 14 points and five assists as the Seahawks suffered their third setback in a row.

UNCW came out of the gate hot to hit on 62.5 percent of its field goal attempts which helped it take a 39-34 lead into halftime. The Tribe kept it close by shooting an even 50 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes.

The Seahawks cooled off to shoot 46.4 percent from the field in the second stanza while William & Mary made 53.8 percent of its field goal tries including 6-of-8 from 3-point range. The Tribe managed to build a 72-66 lead with just 16 seconds remaining before Rendleman and Tanner Milson knocked down consecutive triples to tie it up with just two seconds showing on the clock. Dixon then fouled Rusthoven, who came up in the clutch at the free-throw line.

Although both sides were guilty of 14 miscues, the Tribe held a 20-13 edge in points off of turnovers.
