Recap: Detroit vs. Loyola-Chicago

Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - A layup by Jason Calliste in the final seconds earned the Detroit Titans a thrilling 76-75 win over the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers in Horizon League action at Calihan Hall.

Calliste finished the night with just seven points on 2-of-10 shooting from the floor, missing all six of his 3-point attempts, but he did add six assists and four steals as Detroit (19-10, 11-4 HL) won for the third time in the last four outings. Ray McCallum scored a game-high 22 points, Nick Minnerath added 21 and seven boards, followed by Doug Anderson with 14 points before fouling out.

The Ramblers (14-15, 4-11), losers of three straight and seven of the last eight outings overall, were led by Jordan Hicks with 20 points and seven boards, followed by Christian Thomas with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Jeff White contributed 13 points and seven assists, while Devon Turk and Matt O'Leary chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

In a first half that featured four ties and 10 lead changes, Detroit outscored the visitors in the paint by a 22-12 margin in order to claim a 42-33 advantage at the break.

After shooting a modest 48.1 percent from the field through the first 20 minutes of action, Loyola jumped to 59.1 percent in the second half, eventually leading to a 72-69 edge with just over two minutes remaining. A back-and-forth battle in the final minutes, a layup by White gave the Ramblers a 75-74 lead with under 10 seconds to play, setting the stage for the game- winner by Calliste.

Through eight ties and 18 lead changes, one of the most important aspects of the game for Detroit was the fact that it turned the ball over just six times, compared to 15 miscues for Loyola.
