Recap: Loyola-Chicago vs. Youngstown St

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Kendrick Perry's jumper with five seconds remaining lifted the Youngstown State Penguins to a 68-66 victory as they rallied past the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers in Horizon League action at Gentile Arena.

Damian Eargle paced Youngstown State (9-6, 1-1 Horizon) with 20 points before fouling out. Perry added 18 points and Kamren Belin had 13 points before fouling out himself.

Ben Averkamp scored 18 points and had a game-high eight rebounds for Loyola (10-4, 1-1) which had won four straight entering play. Christian Thomas and Cully Payne each added 11 points and Devon Turk had 10 off the bench.

Loyola had a 35-30 lead at intermission after shooting an even 40 percent from the floor. Youngstown State fell just behind at 39.3 percent shooting.

In the second half the Ramblers led by as many as 14 points but the Penguins used a 10-1 run in the final minutes, capped by Perry's game-winner to take home the victory.

The loss came despite a 35-29 edge on the boards for Loyola.
