Recap: Dartmouth vs. IUPU-Ft Wayne

Hanover, NH (Sports Network) - Isaiah McCray scored 18 points as the IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons held off the Dartmouth Big Green 70-66 in a non-conference bout at Leede Arena.

Mario Hines put in 15 points and brought down eight rebounds for IPFW (4-3). Luis Jacobs added 13 points and Frank Gaines chipped in 12.

Alex Mitola led Dartmouth (1-2) with 18 points. John Golden (15 points) and Gabas Maldunas (10 points, 8 rebounds) also got into double figures.

At the end of the first half it looked like IPFW would run away with the decision. The Mastodons led 37-24 at the break after connecting on 54.5 percent of their first half field goal attempts including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc.

Dartmouth clawed its way back and trailed by just a point (57-54) with 7:34 remaining but was unable to complete the comeback. The Big Green shot 46.4 percent in the period and outscored the Mastodons 12-3 from beyond the arc.

Despite taking twice as many shots from the free throw line as Dartmouth, IPFW held only an 18-13 edge on points from the charity stripe.
