Recap: Fairfield vs. Canisius

Bridgeport, CT (Sports Network) - Harold Washington and Billy Baron tallied 19 points each to help the Canisius Golden Griffin pick up a 67-55 victory over the Fairfield Stags in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference bout at Webster Bank Arena.

Jordan Heath added 10 points for Canisius (5-1, 1-0 MAAC) in the team's second consecutive win. Chris Manhertz pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

Derek Needham paced Fairfield (4-5, 0-1) with 11 points and five assists. No other player managed to score in double-figures for the Stags, who lost for the third time in four games.

The Golden Griffins knocked down 7-of-11 from beyond the arc in the opening half to build a 36-30 lead at the intermission. Fairfield hung around by forcing 10 turnovers before halftime.

Canisius converted 47.6 percent of its field goal attempts and 9-of-12 at the free throw line in the second half to protect its lead. The Stags were held to 37.5 percent shooting from the field and went 3-of-7 at the charity stripe in the final 20 minutes of action.

Canisius outscored the home team, 16-6, at the free throw line in the contest.
