Recap: Canisius vs. Marist

Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Isaac Sosa scored 22 points as the Canisius Golden Griffins topped the Marist Red Foxes, 73-64, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference showdown at Koessler Athletic Center.

Billy Baron had 17 points and 10 assists and Jordan Heath added 11 points for Canisius (10-5, 3-1 MAAC) which had lost three of its previous four contests.

Chavaughn Lewis had a game-high 24 points for Marist (4-11, 1-3) and Devin Price added 16 points as the Red Foxes lost for the fifth straight game.

Canisius got out to a 36-24 lead at the break after shooting 56.0 percent from the field including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. Marist lagged behind by hitting on just 37.5 percent of its field goal attempts in the first 20 minutes.

In the second half the Golden Griffins cooled to 32.3 percent shooting but hit 6-of-14 shots from beyond the arc and had an 11-8 edge in free throws to pull out the victory.

Canisius had a 38-32 edge on the boards and outscored Marist 15-5 on second chance points.
