Recap: Niagara vs. Canisius

Niagara, NY (Sports Network) - Billy Baron poured in 33 points as the Canisius Golden Griffins took down the Niagara Purple Eagles, 77-70, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Gallagher Center.

Baron knocked down 11-of-22 from the floor and 4-of-8 from beyond the arc while Harold Washington added 16 points and Jordan Heath collected 12 rebounds for Canisius (16-9, 9-5 MAAc) which has won three of its last four games.

Juan'ya Green scored 21 points to go with five assists and Devon White, Ameen Tanksley and T.J. Cline each recorded 12 points for Niagara (14-11, 10-4) which has lost three straight after a seven-game winning streak.

Baron scored 15 of his points in the first half and Canisius shot 50 percent from the field while holding Niagara to 32.7 percent shooting. The Golden Griffins led 35-24 at the break.

After halftime the Purple Eagles improved to 44.1 percent shooting, including a 7-of-17 effort from beyond the arc but could not catch up with Canisius which hit 16-of-21 shots from the charity stripe to claim the victory.

Canisius assisted on only six of its 25 field goals while Niagara did so on 17 of its 24.
