Recap: Saint Peters vs. Canisius

Jersey City, NJ (Sports Network) - Harold Washington scored 16 points to help lead the Canisius Golden Griffins to a 68-59 win over the Saint Peter's Peacocks in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference showdown at the Yanitelli Center.

Billy Baron tallied 13 points and six rebounds for Canisius (17-10, 10-6 MAAC), while Isaac Sosa netted 10 points. Jordan Heath added nine boards, three blocks and three steals for the Griffs, who have won two of three.

Desi Washington came off the bench to score a game-high 20 points for Saint Peter's (8-18, 3-13), doing so on 5-of-13 from 3-point range. Darius Conley logged a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Chris Burke also scored 10 points for the Peacocks, who have lost three of four.

Canisius shot less than 38 percent from the field in the first half, but Saint Peter's was even worse at just 30 percent, as the Griffs took a 30-22 lead at the break.

The Peacocks climbed back to take a 46-45 lead with 10:11 to play in the game on a Washington 3-pointer, but the Griffs answered immediately with a 7-0 run to regain the advantage, and they were able to hold on down the stretch for the road victory.

Saint Peter's committed 17 turnovers, which Canisius turned into 17 points. The Griffs also outscored the Peacocks at the foul line, 19-8.
