Recap: Fairfield vs. Marist

Bridgeport, CT (Sports Network) - Josip Mikulic matched a career-high with 16 points to lead the Fairfield Stags to a 71-37 rout over the Marist Red Foxes in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tilt at Webster Bank Arena.

Desmond Wade chipped in 13 points for Fairfield (11-10, 3-6 MAAC), while Derek Needham dished out a game-high four assists. The Stags' reserves outscored Marist's bench, 23-7.

Anell Alexis had 10 points to pace Marist (5-15, 2-7), while leading scorer Chavaughn Lewis (14.6 ppg) had just seven points on 2-of-14 from the field.

Fairfield led 11-10 midway through the first half but finished the frame on a 30-11 run. The Stags hit on an impressive 60.7 percent of their field goal in the opening 20 minutes and outrebounded Marist, 15-11.

The Red Foxes mustered up just 16 second half points, while Fairfield continued its hot shooting from the field (.571) as it cruised to the victory.

Fairfield shot 11-of-22 from 3-point range, while Marist finished with more turnovers (18) than field goals (14).
