Recap: Iona vs. Marist

New Rochelle, NY (Sports Network) - Adam Kemp posted career-highs with 29 points and 16 rebounds as the Marist Red Foxes outlasted the Iona Gaels in double overtime, 105-104, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup at the Hynes Athletic Center.

For the Red Foxes (6-18, 3-10 MAAC), Chavaughn Lewis also posted a double- double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Jay Bowie scored 21 points and Isaiah Morton finished with 18 points and nine assists.

Lamont Jones led all scorers with 37 points for the Gaels (14-10, 8-5), while Tre Bowman added 18 points. Sean Armand (19 points, 12 rebounds) and Taaj Ridley (12 points, 11 rebounds) each registered a double-double for the hosts.

Iona shot 47.5 percent from the field in the first half, including 7-of-13 from 3-point range, as it took a 46-38 lead into halftime. Marist also shot well, making 51.7 percent of its field goal tries, including 5-of-13 from 3- point distance.

The Red Foxes trailed by as many as 12 point early in the half but chipped away at the Gaels' lead, finally going ahead 70-68 with just over six minutes to play. They still lead by two until Jones knocked down a jumper with 19 seconds remaining to knot the score up at 84-84, sending the game to overtime.

Marist jumped out to the early lead in the first extra session, going ahead by as many as six. Trailing 93-89 with just 10 seconds remaining, the Red Foxes scored twice in three seconds. First, Morton made a layup with four seconds remaining. Then, after a missed free-throw by Bowman, Lewis knocked down a jumper with one second left to send the game into the second extra period.

In the second overtime, the teams traded leads before Morton connected on a 3- pointer to put the Red Foxes up for good with 43 seconds remaining. They made their final four free throw attempts to secure the victory.

This contest marked the highest-scoring Marist victory in the past 17 years.
