Recap: Akron vs. Ball State

Akron, OH (Sports Network) - Nick Harney scored a team-high 15 points as the Akron Zips defeated the Ball State Cardinals, 71-64, in Mid-American Conference action at Rhodes Arena.

Harney also recorded four rebounds and two steals in the Akron (12-4, 3-0 MAC) victory. Zeke Marshall scored 13 points and had six rebounds. Alex Abreu scored 11 points and handed out seven assists as the Zips won their eighth game in a row.

For the Cardinals (7-8, 1-2), Majok Majok recorded a double-double scoring a game-high 26 points with 13 boards. Chris Bond was two rebounds shy of a double-double with 10 points. Jauwan Scaife scored 17 points as Ball State lost it's second game in a row.

Akron made 11-of-14 free throws and 3-of-9 3-pointers, en route to a 34-28 advantage at the break as Ball State shot 11-of-26 from the floor.

Akron made 11-of-23 from the floor and 12-of-13 from the free-throw line in the second half to secure the victory.

Akron forced 15 turnovers and outscored Ball State, 20-6, in points off takeaways. Akron's bench outscored Ball State's reserves, 22-4.
