Recap: Ball State vs. IUPUI

Muncie, IN (Sports Network) - Sean Esposito drained 6-of-9 from 3-point range en route to a career-high 20 points as the IUPUI Jaguars defeated the Ball State Cardinals, 77-68, in a non-conference tilt at Worthen Arena.

John Hart added 14 points, seven rebounds, and five assists for IUPUI (5-10), while Lyonell Gaines scored 13 points. Jordan Shanklin chipped in 11 points from off the bench, and Greg Rice registered nine points and seven assists.

For Ball State (5-6), Jauwan Scaife scored a game-high 21 points, and Tyler Koch and Chris Bond netted 10 apiece.

IUPUI shot 48.3 percent from the field in the first half as it took a 38-32 lead into intermission. Ball State kept the game close by shooting 12-of-28 from the floor in the half and 7-of-10 from the foul line.

Both teams shot greater than 54 percent from the floor after halftime, but while the game remained tight, the Jaguars never surrendered their lead.

Ball State outscored IUPUI in the paint, 40-20, but it made just four 3-points compared to 11 for the Jaguars.
